Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how MATHFLIX ("Mathflix", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use Mathflix Prep (the "Service"). MATHFLIX is the data controller for the personal data processed through the Service.

1. Data we collect

  • Account data: name, email, hashed password or OAuth identifier.
  • Learning data: answers, scores, session history, topic progress, diagnostic and full-test results.
  • Support & communication data: messages you send us, email preferences.
  • Usage & telemetry: pages viewed, features used, approximate device and browser information, IP address.
  • Payment metadata: subscription status and Paddle customer/subscription identifiers. Card details are handled directly by Paddle and are never stored on our servers.

2. How we use your data

  • Create and secure your account (contract performance).
  • Deliver practice questions, adaptive tests, progress dashboards, and leaderboards (contract performance).
  • Send transactional emails such as verification, password reset, test results, and study reminders (contract performance / legitimate interests).
  • Send product update announcements — you can unsubscribe at any time (consent / legitimate interests).
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and secure the Service (legitimate interests).
  • Improve the Service using aggregated, non-identifying usage data (legitimate interests).
  • Comply with legal obligations (legal obligation).

3. Who we share data with

  • Paddle — Merchant of Record for payments, subscription management, tax compliance, invoicing, and refunds.
  • Hosting & infrastructure providers that host the Service, database, and email delivery on our behalf.
  • Analytics providers to understand aggregated usage of the Service.
  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
  • Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including outside the UK/EEA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and learning data while your account is active, and for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. You may request deletion of your account at any time; residual backups are overwritten on our normal rotation schedule.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction or deletion;
  • Restrict or object to certain processing;
  • Data portability;
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing);
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, role-based server permissions, and regular security reviews. No system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage required for authentication, saving your preferences (such as light/dark theme), and remembering your progress. We also use limited analytics to understand aggregated usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working.

9. Children

The Service is intended for students preparing for the SAT, including minors under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this Notice

We may update this Notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
